Thai Flow Massage in Vancouver
Leelawadee's own creation — traditional Thai stretching and warm oil deep pressure, combined into one session you won't find anywhere else.
The Treatment
What is Thai Flow massage?
Thai Flow is Leelawadee's own creation — a signature massage that blends the two things the spa has always done best. The upper body receives traditional Thai stretching and compression work, performed clothed, moving through the assisted stretches and energy line (Sen) work that define authentic Thai massage. The back and lower body then receive warm oil deep tissue pressure, applied directly to the skin, working into the muscle layers with the precision and depth that oil technique allows.
The result is a session that no standard menu can replicate. Traditional Thai massage, at its best, opens the joints, releases the hips, and restores the body's natural sense of length and ease — but it cannot reach the muscle tissue directly the way oil-based pressure work can. Oil massage, at its best, releases deep accumulated tension in the muscles and fascia — but it does not stretch the body or work the energy pathways that Thai technique addresses. Thai Flow does both, in sequence, within a single session.
At Leelawadee since 2005, our WATPO-trained therapists have spent years refining how these two approaches fit together. The transition between clothed stretch work and oil pressure is seamless — the session has its own rhythm and logic, not the feeling of two separate treatments joined together. Many of our clients have made Thai Flow their regular booking precisely because it delivers something complete that neither technique alone achieves.
Your Visit
What to expect
Before
You will be given loose, comfortable clothing for the Thai stretching portion. Let your therapist know which areas feel tightest or most restricted — this helps calibrate both the stretch sequences and the depth of the oil pressure component. There is no need to bring anything specific; everything is provided at both our Downtown and Cambie locations.
During
The session begins with guided stretches and energy line work on the upper body and legs — your therapist moves your limbs through their range of motion, applying gentle compression and sustained assists. The session then transitions to warm oil work on the back and lower body, where pressure can be adjusted throughout. The two phases flow naturally from one to the other without interruption.
After
Most clients leave feeling both looser and lighter — the stretch work opens the body and the oil pressure releases accumulated tension. You may notice improved range of motion in the hips, shoulders, or back. Drink plenty of water. The effects of the session tend to deepen over the following 24 hours.
Why It Works
What you'll feel
The Best of Both Worlds
Thai stretching opens the joints and lengthens the body along traditional Sen energy lines. Warm oil pressure then works directly into the muscles — releasing tension that stretching alone cannot reach.
Full-Body Mobility
Assisted stretches work the hips, back, and shoulders through their natural range of motion, restoring ease of movement and reducing stiffness that builds up from sitting or repetitive activity.
Deep Tension Release
Warm oil applied to the back and lower body allows the therapist to work with sustained, continuous pressure — reaching layers of accumulated tension that a clothed technique cannot access.
A Signature You Won't Find Elsewhere
Thai Flow is Leelawadee's own creation, developed and refined since 2005. It is not a standard industry offering — it reflects decades of practice combining authentic Thai bodywork with oil-based deep pressure.
Is It Right for You?
Who books Thai Flow massage
Thai Flow suits people who want more from a single session than one technique alone can provide. It is particularly well-suited to those who have tried both Thai and oil massage and want the best of each:
People who want stretching and depth in one session
Who have tried traditional Thai massage and loved the stretch work, but wanted more direct muscle pressure — or tried oil massage but missed the mobility component.
Those who found pure Thai too intense
Traditional Thai can be demanding on the joints and connective tissue. Thai Flow uses oil pressure in place of some of the more forceful compressions, making the session more accessible while keeping the meaningful stretch sequences.
Those who found oil massage too passive
If lying still while oil is worked into your back has never felt like quite enough, the Thai stretching component adds active movement and a sense of genuine full-body reset.

Common Questions
Thai Flow massage FAQ
Traditional Thai massage is performed fully clothed on a mat — the therapist uses their hands, elbows, knees, and feet to stretch and compress the body along Sen energy lines. Thai Flow keeps the clothed upper-body stretching work but adds warm oil massage on the back and lower body, allowing for much deeper pressure in those areas. It is a hybrid unique to Leelawadee, combining the mobility benefits of traditional Thai with the muscle-depth of oil-based bodywork.
The upper body and legs receive traditional Thai stretching work, so you will be given loose, comfortable clothing to wear for those portions — similar to what you would wear for a standard Thai massage session. The back and lower body receive warm oil work, so those areas will be undraped during that phase. Your therapist will explain the process at the start of the session and ensure you are comfortable throughout.
They are different, not better or worse. Deep tissue massage uses sustained firm oil pressure throughout the whole session to release the deeper layers of muscle tissue. Thai Flow includes that kind of pressure on the back and lower body but also incorporates Thai stretching for the joints and energy lines — things deep tissue does not address. If your main goal is mobility and a full-body reset, Thai Flow often delivers more. If you want sustained, focused pressure work on specific tight muscles, deep tissue may be the better fit.
Most clients find 90 minutes to be the ideal length for Thai Flow. The session naturally needs time to move through both the stretching and oil-pressure components — 60 minutes is possible but the experience is more complete at 90. If you have not had Thai Flow before, we recommend starting with 90 minutes so your therapist can cover both elements properly without rushing.
Thai Flow sessions are not performed by Registered Massage Therapists (RMT) and cannot be submitted to extended health benefit plans. If insurance coverage is a requirement for your booking, please ask about RMT availability when you call or book online.
